Fire Inspector/Public Education Specialist
Clackamas Fire District #1 is establishing an eligibility list for appointment to the position of Fire Inspector/Public Education Specialist. This position is for entry level positions as Fire Inspector/Public Education Specialist. The list is being established pursuant to Oregon Revised Statutes Chapter 242.702 through 242.824, CCFD Ordinance 90-1, and adopted Civil Service Rules.
Appointments are to positions in civil service, and will be made upon merit, demonstrated ability and fitness, which shall be ascertained by testing, examination, and investigation of qualified personnel.
The written examination is scheduled for Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at 08:00am. Information regarding the location and schedule will be mailed to all applicants.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Applications will be accepted only from individuals who meet the following minimum requirements of:
FIRE SERVICE EXPERIENCE or FIRE CODE EXPERIENCE or TRAINING or GENERAL INSPECTION BACKGROUND—municipal, state or federal codes/statutes

The candidates must possess the training and physical condition "to effectively perform the essential functions of the position, and any marginal functions of the position." (Pursuant to Civil Service Rule VII, Section 2, B)
- All applicants must provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States of America at time of appointment.
- All applicants must provide proof of a valid driver’s license and be insurable by the Fire District insurance carrier.
- Must have High School diploma or G.E.D.
- Must have knowledge and experience in the fire service or fire code background or municipal, state or federal codes and statutes inspection to be eligible to continue in the testing process.
- Candidates will be required to be ICC Inspector I and II certified at the time of appointment.
You are required to provide documentation and information verifying your background to continue in the testing process. The position is not a TDY assignment. This position is an Entry Level Fire Prevention Division position.
SALARY
Wages and Benefits are determined through the collective bargaining process. The wage range is $5176 - $5,776 per month plus a generous benefits package and PERS/OPSRP when eligible.
DUTIES
Promotes good public relations and delivers injury reduction education programs to community. Performs inspection, education and enforcement work in carrying out the district’s fire prevention program; does related work as required. Assigned the responsibility, by virtue of ability to serve as a specialist in a pre-determined specialized or technical area involving the duties and responsibilities of the fire prevention bureau. Ability to perform both independently and as a team member; ability to initiate and develop close working relationships with department heads, staff and elected officials of local, city and county organizations.
