How Do I Get Started On A Fire Service Career?

Clackamas Fire District #1 is currently the second largest fire district in Oregon, proudly serving 166,000 citizens in an area covering 194 square miles.

Clackamas Fire District #1 currently employs 178 people including one fire chief, two deputy chiefs an executive officer, one personnel services chief, 8 battalion chiefs and 154 sworn line personnel. Approximately 60 volunteers currently supplement the paid firefighting forces. The district currently provides service from 16 community fire stations. The district’s annual operating budget for 2007 is approximately 37 million dollars with an assessed evaluation of more than 9.1 billion dollars.

Clackamas Fire District #1 currently staffs ten career engine companies, two truck companies, one multipurpose squad, one rescue and two battalion chiefs each day. Five volunteer engines companies and various other apparatus such as cross-staffed water tenders, brush units, squads, transport capable ambulances, rehab units, and boats currently complete our response capabilities. Clackamas Fire District #1 currently provides ALS medical response from every career unit and supports technical rescue teams in swift water, USAR, confined space, trench and high angle rope rescue.
