About The Clackamas Emergency Service Foundation
The Clackamas Emergency Services Foundation is hosting an annual dinner fundraiser and auction for the purpose of raising money for those in our community who are in need. Our mission is “To provide humanitarian assistance to those who have been adversely affected by disaster, tragedy, injury, or other misfortune, and to work actively toward preventing or minimizing the impact of such misfortunes in our community.”
The Foundation was formed in 1998 to provide funds to help people in need within the community. The Foundation consists of the following emergency service agencies – Clackamas Fire District #1, Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Milwaukie Police Department and Oregon City Police Department. For those who have experienced a fire, accident or other tragedy, Foundation Funds can provide a warm hotel room in the middle of the night, a change of clothes, or necessary toiletries and food until other social services agencies can step in. Firefighters and police officers who respond to fire, police and emergency medical calls see first hand those that are in immediate need. The Foundation empowers them to use their discretion in identifying short-term emergency needs.
Our Foundation is active in making the community a safer place for our citizens. Some examples of programs that we support include increasing the automatic external defibrillators (AED) in the community and “Helmets are Cool,” where children are given helmets when they are found without proper head gear.
The Foundation is also involved with Operation Santa Claus. In December, a month long holiday toy and food drive takes place where Santa leads a fire engine and patrol car in a parade down neighborhood streets to collect toys and non-perishable food items. These are used to fill hundreds of food baskets for needy families. Donated funds are used to purchase perishable items for food baskets, and help to cover miscellaneous expenses.
In these difficult economic times, we have received many requests from our local citizens in need. We are asking for your help so we can enable the firefighters and peace officers in our community to reach out to those who need our help. Please join us at our annual dinner and silent auction to raise funds for the Clackamas Emergency Services Foundation.
